Temperatures hit 35 C today in Tokyo! Summer’s here with all the exciting projects! Holidays on the beach, BBQ, camps, Japanese traditional fireworks…many events are to come!
It’s also why it’s the season when Japanese women do their nails the most!
I’ve already presented the Japanese nail trends for spring and summer for this year here, but a brand new trend just for summer is booming right now, so I thought I’ll present it to you!
For the recent years each summer, some trends have been coming back. The water drops nailart design is one of them.
Note that we like to use clear and cool shades for this nail art to remind the sea!
Nailarts with real shell pieces have been really popular too.
So far we used to use already crushed small pieces of shells but this year we use big pieces that we cut in the shape and size that we want, which offers wider designs.
Like everywhere, unicorn nails have been slowly rising in popularity in Japan as well. It’s supposed to be the next trend to the mirror nails that I’ve presented here. With its iridescent shine, it can be combined with pretty much anything, as it’s to be layered on top of shades and designs.
And the new nailart I was dying to present you today is called “marmaid’s scale”, which is totally a thing right now in Japan!
However, the name is more inspirational and the real nailart looks more like a shell.
It does look like a real shell with its three-dimensional shape.
It’s a new type of nail design created by layering the same gel many times in order to create a cubic effect. It can be created on top of any shade.
Some designs combine unicorn nailart and mermaid’s scale nailart, to have all the trends on one hand!
Of course, I went to try it on my nails too!
I asked for a clear whitish design. Some fingers contain iridescent foils combined with some random pieces of white shell. And on one finger, I have this new trendy mermaid’s scale nail art design.
I think that Japanese nailart design has once again proved the infinite possibility that gel nails offer. Have you found your next nail design to rock this summer?!
